Few days ago, on February 16th,  Alberta Premier stated that 2 new immigration streams will be added to the province newcomer programs which are designed to encourage skilled and talented professionals from around the world to live in rural Alberta communities The 2 new streams are : Rural Renewal Stream : It is intended to attract people who have a valid job offer from an employer where they will work in designated rural Alberta communities. Currently applications are being accepted from rural communities willing to participate as a limited number of communities will be accepted.  Rural Entrepreneur Stream: is for people intending to start or buy a business designated rural Alberta communities. Applications who meet certain screening criteria are encouraged to submit an expression of interest and visit the designated community where they wish to operate.  Alberta has also changed the name of three old entrepreneur streams while keeping their eligibility criteria unchanged: The International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream is now called the Graduate Entrepreneur Stream. The Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream is now called  the Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream. The Self-Employed Farmer Stream is now called the Farm Stream. Finally, the government of Alberta has directed candidates who need to request a nomination extension to do so using Alberta’s online portal or ordinary mail according to your original application method.  It is worthy of mentioning that In 2021, Alberta invited  6,250 potential immigrants to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry stream. The said stream is based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and applicants need a score of at least 340 in order to be considered for nomination by the province. Those lucky to receive the nomination will get 600 points added to their score and be eligible for an Express Entry PNP round of invitations.
